Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Online

Master of education in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in learning and instruction and a focus in TESOL (M Ed)

TESOL student and teacherAs the debate over English as the first and only language converges with the diversity of our student population, the need for teachers who can work with speakers of other languages will become fundamental in creating a successful classroom experience for both the teacher and the student. No Child Left Behind’s testing and measurement requirements will also encourage teachers to be able to work and help these students as both the individual school and the district is evaluated.

The University of Missouri-Columbia’s online Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program will challenge you to discover new ways to expand your view not only of teaching, but also of the world – outside of Missouri, the United States – outreach takes on new meaning. The best part of teaching English to speakers of other languages is that you’ll come to learn as much about another person’s life and culture as they will about yours. For a time, this vast global community can become very small as we focus on its individuals. The online course delivery makes learning flexible and enjoyable as you design the program that best fits you.
