Educational Leadership: Online Master’s Degree
See all courses in the program
To allow students to get started on the degree requirements and also have an opportunity to experience online learning, students may enroll in up to six credit hours (two courses) prior to admission to the degree program as a post- baccalaureate student.
To ensure these hours transfer into the student's degree program, admission must be finalized and the student must be admitted to the program by completion of the six hours.
After admission into the Educational Leadership program, students enroll in ED LPA 8413 Internship. (ED LPA 8413 must be taken the first semester the student has been admitted into the degree program.)
Note: Enrolling in a course does not provide acceptance into the degree program.
Ed Leadership focus courses
For the five educational leadership classes, approximately 50 percent of the course work will be completed in the classroom with faculty. The ELPA faculty believe that the preparation of school leaders requires discussion, authentic learning experiences, classroom simulations and other learning activities not possible over the Internet. To prepare school leaders to interact effectively with colleagues, parents and students in the school setting, in-class time is necessary.
Core courses
The online courses are interactive, semester-long courses. Courses are based on a weekly format that includes lecture, assignments, text readings and discussion. Students can choose the most convenient times to complete course work within the week, being mindful of weekly deadlines.
Students may take any of the online core courses without intending to pursue a degree at MU.
Campus courses
Students enrolled in this program also have the option of taking courses regularly scheduled on the MU campus. For a list of available courses, visit myZou . Click on the "Catalog and Schedule of Classes" link, then select the semester and the curriculum that you would like to take courses in.
