Media Management: Master of Arts in Journalism ONLINE!

Courses in the Media Management program

Courses are scheduled in the fall, spring and summer semesters. Fall (August to December) and spring (January to May) semesters are 16 weeks in length, and summer session lasts eight weeks (June to early August). For information on current semester dates, please go to the Mizzou Academic Calendar.

Program Core: 9 credit hours

  • JOURN 8000 Mass Media Seminar (3 hours)
  • JOURN 8080 Media Ethics (3 hours)
  • JOURN 8006 Quantitative Research Methods in Journalism (3 hours) or
  • JOURN 8008 Qualitative Research Methods in Journalism (3 hours)

Media Management core: 11-plus credit hours

  • JOURN 8058 Communication in Media Organizations (3 hours)
  • JOURN 8070 Pro-seminar in Communications (1-3 hours). This course can be repeated. Attendance for one 1-hour seminar on campus is required.
  • JOURN 7736 Economics and Finance of the Media (3 hours)
  • JOURN 7978 Media Management and Leadership (3 hours)

Electives: 6 credit hours

 

Capstone Level: 10 credit hours

  • Professional Project: JOURN 8098 MA Project Seminar (1 Credit) and JOURN 8190 Area Problem in Journalism (9 hours)
  • Thesis: JOURN 8100 MA Thesis Seminar (1 hour) and JOURN 8090 Research in Journalism (9 hours)

Total Suggested for Graduation: 37 credit hours
